The construction sector is growing: here are the figures for the first quarter of 2019
Istat recently released its monthly report on the performance of the construction sector in the first quarter of 2019. The data analyzed show interesting signs of recovery after the heavy crisis that hit the construction industry between 2008 and 2018.
Ferro-Met, a company active since 1994 in the production and distribution of props and scaffolds, shares the results of the report on the construction sector, highlighting the most relevant data.
Construction sector: data for the first quarter of 2019
Three key data on the performance of the construction sector in the first quarter of 2019 emerge from the Istat report:
- on average production grew by 3.9% compared to the last three months of 2018
- the index on an annual basis showed an 8.1% growth
- the raw construction production index increased by 6.3% compared to March 2018
Despite the decrease recorded in March, the seasonally adjusted index of new constructions and maintenance of existing buildings rose by 4% compared to the previous one, thus maintaining high levels. The particularly significant rise is due in part to the fall in production recorded in March 2018 due to adverse weather conditions.
In any case, this increase has also led to a growth in demand: the analysis of payment data relating to gross fixed investments of provinces, municipalities and metropolitan cities shows an increase of 12.7% in the first quarter 2019 compared to the same period of 2018.
Internationally, the results achieved by Italy in the construction sector are in line with those of Germany (production increased by 3.9%), better than those of France (+ 1.3%) and the United Kingdom (+1 , 1%); Spain, in contrast, shows a fall in production of 2.7%.
